Accessibility statement for apply, change or end an Electronic Monitoring Order
This website is run by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- No error message shown when an empty curfew timetable form is submitted.
- Curfew updates not announced to screen reader users. For example, remove a curfew period.
- PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software.
- Inconsistent back link behaviour.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Error identification: On the Curfew Timetable page, if the user attempts to submit the form without completing any of the fields, the page simply reloads without providing an error message or summary. This leaves users unaware of what went wrong or why they cannot progress, which can be particularly problematic for screen reader users or those with cognitive impairments who rely on clear feedback to correct mistakes. This fails WCAG 3.3.1 (A), 3.3.3 (AA).
- Status messages: On the Curfew Timetable page, actions such as clicking the “Remove” button to delete an extra time entry or using the “Auto populate the other days with the same curfew hours” option dynamically update the form fields. However, these updates are not announced to screen reader users, who receive no feedback indicating that the interface has changed. This fails WCAG 4.1.3 (AA).
The submitted form document is in both a HTML format and PDF. The PDF is not accessible in a number of ways including missing document structure.
Every form submission causes the page to reload resulting in the browser treating the current page as a new history entry each time. When users click the “Back” link, they are often taken to an earlier state of the current page (such as an empty or partially completed form) rather than the previous step in the journey.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are working alongside other government departments and agencies to fix content which fails to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.
